Garth Saloner dean stanford business school

Economist Garth Saloner has been appointed as Dean of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. Mr. Garth Saloner will take over as dean Sept. 1. 2009 and will succeed Robert Joss, the out going dean.

Garth Saloner was professor at Stanford since 1990, specializes in electronic commerce, strategic management and economics. He founded the business school's Center for Electronic Business and Commerce in 1999, and is currently director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

In 2006, Garth Saloner led an overhaul of Stanford's MBA program that loosened course requirements and allowed students to count classes in other disciplines toward the degree.

Mr. Garth Saloner has advised major Silicon Valley companies -- including eBay Inc., Cisco Systems Inc. and Intel Corp. -- on business strategy and e-commerce.

Symbiosis - SCMHRD Launched SAP TERP 10 Training Program for its students

In order to train its students better and develop a skilled work force, The Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD) has launched the System Application and Products (SAP) University Alliances Programme (UAP) by introducing the technical enterprise resource planning (TERP10) software.

The SCMHRD students will be joining 900 major universities across the globe in using the SAP software.

According to SAP, graduating students will gain an understanding of how technology can facilitate integrated business processes and strategic thinking which will improve their chances of employment.

Dipak Jain , Dean of Kellogg Schools of Management Stepdowns

Dipak Jain , Dean of the Prestigious Kellogg Schools of Management at Northwestern University ha decided to stepdown after serving the institute for 8 years as a Dean.

Dipak Jain has served as a consultant to Top Corporate Companies like Microsoft, Novartis, American Express, Sony, Nissan, Motorola, Eli Lilly, Phillips and Hyatt International.

He also serves as a member of the board of directors of Hartmarx Corporation, Deere & Company, Northern Trust Corporation and Reliance Industries (India).

An interim dean would be appointed soon while Northwestern would begin a national search for Jain's replacement.

HBS Students Take Ethics Oath

Many second-year Harvard Business School students have signed a pledge to act ethically in the business world.

Over 335 Harvard students had signed the pledge, known as the MBA Oath, as of yesterday afternoon, according to organizer Maxwell F. Anderson, a graduating business student. Anderson’s goal is to have 50 percent of the class—or 450 students—sign before graduation on Thursday.

Rutgers School of Business Student receives Scholarship

CAMDEN -- Voorhees resident Ameena Hasan, a marketing major at the Rutgers School of Business–Camden, has received a $10,000 scholarship from the East Division of Quaker, Tropicana, and Gatorade, a division of PepsiCo Inc.

The award supports full-time students with strong grade-point averages and interest in marketing careers.

Hasan, 20, is entering her senior year at the Rutgers School of Business–Camden, where she is a member of the Honors College and will serve as treasurer of the Marketing Association student organization. She is vice president of new member education in the Rutgers–Camden chapter of the sorority Sigma Delta Tau.

Through the Rutgers–Camden business school internship program, Hasan currently is positioned with Anthropologie, an upscale clothing retailer. She intends to pursue a career in fashion merchandising and marketing.

A 2006 graduate of Eastern Regional High School, Hasan is the daughter of Mohammad S. Hasan of Voorhees.

Five IIM Ahmedabad graduates yet to find jobs

Five of the 70 students of the 2008-09 batch of the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX) at the Indian Institute of Management ( IIM Ahmedabad ) are yet to find jobs, an official of the institute said Tuesday.

The official said that 93 percent of the students who graduated on March 28 were placed by the end of May. The average domestic salary was Rs.2.02 million, while two students were placed abroad at an average salary of $122,000.

Four students from the batch have launched exciting entrepreneurial ventures in fields like clean energy, manufacturing and services. However, five are yet to get any job offers.

The School of Management will host an information session

The School of Management will host an information session on June 3 for Boston University employees to explore the school’s Professional Evening MBA program. An overview will be presented and the admissions process discussed. Current MBA students will also be present to answer questions.

An added incentive: BU offers tuition remission to full-time employees who have worked at the University for at least nine months.
